Questions that reveal the teaching
Ask what a complete beginner should be able to do by the end of the lesson. A clear answer about the basic step, timing and simple partnerwork is more useful than a promise to learn many moves.
Check these details together:
1. Starting level: Does beginner mean no previous dancing, or some Bachata knowledge? Open level does not always mean from zero. 2. Partner policy: Can you come alone? Is rotation expected, optional or absent? If you want to stay with your own partner, ask first. 3. Feedback: How does the teacher help when someone loses the count or cannot feel a movement? 4. Attendance: Can you make the actual start and finish times, including the journey home? 5. Cost and commitment: Is this a single lesson or a package? What is included, and when do sessions expire?
What to learn before advanced movement
Timing, basic steps, weight transfer, balance and a comfortable frame give you somewhere to return when a pattern becomes confusing. Simple turns come before deep waves, dips or head movements. Learning a move also means knowing how to stop it without pulling your partner.
